About Me
Taden is 6 years old and from Oklahoma. He loves to play soccer and T-ball, spend time with his family, and play outdoors!
Diagnostic Journey
Taden was diagnosed with ARSACS at the beginning of 2024. After showing delayed walking and gross motor skills, he started physical therapy (PT). Taden was finally able to walk at 27 months and moved on to seeing a neurologist and orthopedic doctor to find more answers. After a few MRI's which came back clear, his family decided to conduct genetic testing. They discovered that Taden, indeed, did have ARSACS. Taden continues with his weekly PT and sees neuro for follow-ups. He does not let anything slow him down and continues to run and play with his friends and sister!
Message to the Community
Taden’s family’s hearts go out to anyone who is struggling with ARSACS. They expressed that it is difficult to watch Taden struggle but that they find so much encouragement with his perseverance and seeing all the other positive stories from others on the ARSACS social media pages. Taden’s family appreciates the families who have reached out to them and hope that together we can build a community of people who can show ataxia who's boss!
Message to Those Unfamiliar with ARSACS
Taden’s family wants people to understand that living with a rare disease comes with a lot of question marks. When there isn't a lot of information, even clinically, it can make your treatment options limited. Many times, even finding a doctor that has heard of a rare disease like ARSACS is challenging.
Hopes for the Future of ARSACS
Taden’s family hopes that a cure will be found for ARSACS. They also hope to find more ways to help those affected, whether it be medically, physically, or just more support.
